Erie Lake Ontario

 

Our next destination was Turkey Point P.P along the North side of the Eire Lake,I am quite disappointed from the the facilities and the price of the P.P,Electric only for 38C$ +Tax….for seniors this is way to much and even more than some private C.G with full hookups and WiFi-but besides that the location was good and close to a great sandy beach.

                                                                                                                                                

                                                                                                                      

On the next day we took a short drive to Port Dover ,a small lovely harbor town with a great marina that can accommodate 480 boats,we strolled the main drag,the beach and went into the information center for some maps and directions,there we were approached by Paul that took the time to explain us about the town,the theater and the future town plans to attract tourist to visit.

Paul also was kind enough to invite us to see his boat and had  glass of red good wine& a beer going with it-Paul you MADE OUR DAY ,THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

                                                                                 

 

Some times the unplanned events turn out to be our favorites as it happened to us today  .

Fort Erie ,Marin land & Niagara falls ON

We chose Ridgway ON as a center location to camp and leave our trailer for the next 4 days,it is only 30 K from the major attractions and we could come and go easily to show our grandkid for the first time in his life things he have never saw.

                                                                                       

The C.G has water and electric hookups,leveled sites ,grass and clean bathhouse,it also has a lake with a beach and some floating toys in it which Paz used with pleasure.

                                                                                                                                                        

In the evening we built a fire ,I used an old trick I have learned from a friend and inserted a bronze tube with a rubber water hose into the fire creating rainbow colors-Magic fire accordingly to our grandson

                                                                                                                                    

Adding to  our grandson list of things that he did never done we took him to visit Fort Erie just down the road from the C.G ,we saw  a short movie about the fort,the soldiers life ,and took a guided tour of the place that included firing demonstration .

After lunch we took of to Niagara Falls doing most of the regular tourist stuff like taking the boat to and close to the falls,walking the main drag and watching at down fantastic fireworks from both sides of the boarder ,we left the place at 11PM after seeing the color waterfall show.

   WOOOOW What a day….the next morning was at 11AM….that is called LIFE.

Ontario with our 13 years old grandson

We are continuing our tradition  taking one grandkid as a Barmiva/Batmizva present   (girl 12 and boy 13)for  a one month RV trip,this year Paz (13) joins us after his sister did 3 years ago.

Since we started this arrangement the grandkids are waiting their turn and counting the time that  passes “very slowly “ as they say.

I planned  the first month in Ontario,taking into consideration the grandkids interests such as Wonderland Toronto,CN Tower,Niagara area,P.Parks along Erie Lake,Marine World and days hikes.

Paz has finished his school year on 20 July and we were on the plane to Toronto 3 days later  and stayed with our youngest son  4 days touring in Toronto  before we picked the rig from the storage place.

We managed to service the truck,buy groceries and arrange the trailer  in  2 full  hard days and pulled the 5W  to Hamilton area where we “camped” in a friends driveway for 3 days to tour the area attractions .

                                                                                                                                        

During the last days  we hiked 5 waterfalls,visited the “big boats” that docked in Hamilton’s marina and later attended a Rib Fest till 7PM-wow great days…. I will let the pictures “talk”

One thing is for sure being one on one with only one grandkid is a very good/interesting experience and we are happy that they want to join us and that are able to do it.

Day Trip to Snir River

 

Snir River is one of the rivers that runes into the Jordan River from the North and is a part of the Banias Natural Reserve.

It was a hot day so we decided to take a hike in a cooling shady area and nothing fit us more that the beautiful Snir River.

Hermon Stream (Banias) Nature Reserve

The Banias Spring emerges at the foot of Mount Hermon and flows powerfully through a canyon for 3.5 km, eventually leading to the Banias Waterfall, the most impressive cascade in Israel. Nine kilometers from its source, the Hermon Stream meets the Dan, and together they form the Jordan River.

A stepped path near the spring climbs to the Banias Cave. Nearby, five niches carved into the cliff wall are a remnant of the temple to Pan, which gave the site its name: Paneas or Pameas (pronounced Banias in Arabic). Remains of a temple built by Herod the Great stand in front of the cave. After Herod’s death, his son Philip inherited this area, and in 2 BCE Philip founded his capital near the Banias Spring, calling it Caesarea Philippi.

Caesarea Philippi became an important Christian pilgrimage destination as the place where Jesus asked the disciples who people said he was. The New Testament records that Peter answered: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus then blessed Simon, saying: “you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it (Matt. 16:16-19).

A 45-minute loop trail passes Roman- and Crusader-period sites. The marked trail to the waterfall takes about 90 minutes. About 150 m along that trail, it crosses the Govta Stream under a Roman bridge. It continues to the hydroelectric power station and the reconstructed, water-powered Matroof flour mill, where Druze pita with labaneh (goat cheese) is for sale. The Officers Pool, 350 m farther along, now a habitat for Capoeta damascena fish, was used by Syrian officers before 1967.

The bus collected at 6AM the group along the way from the central part of the country towards Golan Hiegths in the North and only after 3 hours we were already at a view point having breakfast.

                             

The DRUZ village below was our next stop,as the Druz do not have a country they adopt the life style of the country they live in keeping their secret Religion only to the Droz real believers, most of their people live in the Middle East and enjoy freedom  in Israel. 

                                                      

Our next stop was at the Snir River reserve hiking up stream with stops for lunch and cooling of in the clear cool waters along the way .

It was our last seasonal trip with our hiking group we will meet again in October to renew our travels in the country to new and other exiting destinations.

I believe that our next post will be from Canada after we pick our Rig and start our 12th Summer RV trip in North America.
