Second day in Rosman NC- day trip in Pisgah National Forest area NC

You know the saying :“with food comes the  appetite “ well we had a such a nice day yesterday hiking some of many waterfalls in the area that we planned to hike some more today and in the next days.

In the evening we invited Mary and Loren for some “Blinches” (like Pancakes with cheese) and some strong coffee and hit the sack after getting our hiking gear ready for the next day hike.

Around 6AM sound of dropping rain on our trailer roof waked me up with a bad feeling that this might change our plans,so I jumped to my laptop to check the weather condition in the area and found out that in Florida area there are floods,in New Mexico there are fires and in our area it will be ONLY raining- so we are in good shape here and simple rain will not stop us from hiking the falls.

We packed a lunch, got our raincoats and took HWT 215 North towards Blue Ridge PKW,we pooled into various look outs to see the clouds “sitting” on top of the mountains,it was wet but beautiful.

Around noon we got hungry and found a picnic area with a rooftop over the table and sat down zipping hot coffee  with crackers and cheese,it was wet again but we took it as it comes.

Finally we got to Moore Cove Falls parking lot and hiked a mile r/t to and from the falls, and yes again it was wet but as we can not control the weather why waist energy on the subject.

The falls were just beautiful and can be reached from behind them as well but with the rain going on I expected them to be more full.

A mile South from there we stopped to see the most photographic falls in NC the Looking Glass Falls, here we did not have to hike more that few feet to see the magnificent Looking Glass Falls.

It was another great day but I realized again that our lives and what we do is dictated by the weather.

Till we meet again.

First day in Rosman NC-hiking to waterfalls

Map picture

Using the Lazy J C.G as our base for the next few days we took off with Mary & Loren that know the area very well to a day hike along Hwy 281 South towards S.Carolina.

The great weather, curvy roads ,mountains and green all around made it a fantastic drive all along.

Our first stop was at the Upper White water Falls just .5 mile hike and what a beautiful powerful falls it is,we love to hike to waterfalls and never seem to have enough of this magnificent power of nature.

We continued towards the beautiful Gorges S.P and hiked 3 quite stressful miles to Rainbow falls, the hike was along Horse pasture River with many small falls on the way including one that is used as a slide for brave people to plunge into the cold water of the river.

At that point we took a break and had some snacks we carried all the way.

Back “home” shower, work on the computer, dinner with a good wine completes this delightful day .

From Linwood NC to Rosman NC

The Crosswinds C.G owners in NC Arthur and Glenda made everything to help us get on the road, they picked us up from Charlotte A/P to their C.G,helped us transfer the rig from the storage area to a regular site with full hook ups and pointed us to places where we could service our truck and get groceries .

After 3 days we were ready to hit the road,it was not easy to say good buys, some times there is a “click” between people instantly and that what happened to us,so it took some time but finally we hit the road to our next stop in Rosman NC in Transylvania County.

The trip was 200 miles long but took around 5 hours due to traffic jams along the Hwy next to Charlotte but finally we arrived to a fantastic country side C.G nestled between mountains with a running brock along the C.G.

The owners are a friendly couple that let you feel at home as you enter the place,it was tough to get in the C.G from the Hwy ,it is down hill and across a narrow bridge but rewording  at the end,and if you like a remote quite country side C.G with a brook and some chicken running around surrounded with many waterfalls –this is the place for you.

As we made our way  slowly on the bridge a guy was helping us make our way by directing us carefully, once we entered the C,G we were greeted by people all around ,it was like meeting a group of people we new, what a great  feeling it was.

The C.G is located in the middle of Transylvania County NC also called the Waterfalls land http://www.visitwaterfalls.com/ and we plan to hike as many waterfalls as we can during a week or so (will post pictures in future posts).

On our first evening we were invited to share a BBQ by one of the “residents” what turned to be a very pleasant evening and we made plans to hike together on the next day.

Our new friends
