Starting our 16th Summer RV trip.

On 1st June we started our long way from home to Redmond OR where   we left the rig in October 2016.

Our first stop was to visit our son and his family in Toronto, it was a great week as always, the grandkids connected to us immidiatly after spending time with them on Skype during the winter…

Saying goodby is not easy but we will see them again in October after we store the rig before we fly home.

The flight from Toronto to Redmond OR was via Denver with a short connection and after seeing our bags arrive to the destination I can say it was a success….except the long lines in Toronto A/P even at 6:30 AM… crowded gate area with nowhere to sit and  only free drinks on a 5 hour flight with no food except a small bag of bagels, poor airlines ….once it was fun to fly, no more.

Damon our great friend came over with our truck to pick us from the Redmond airport and from there we drove to collect the 5W from Big RV Bend.

Here comes a sad story which I will write in short: we left the 5W with Big RV Bend in October 2016 with a list of repairs that they could do anytime during the winter till late May 2017.

In April 2017 just one month before we are picking the 5W I contact the service manager to make sure that all is done accordingly to the list, the answers were strange: Accordingly to my knowledge all repairs are done and you bill is higher by 30% because it took more time than the quote to do what is need to do…

After e-mails back and forth he finally it went back to the original price as quoted, mean time I sent someone to see the 5w and she found that 3 jobs were not done at all although i was billed for them.

Face to face with the service manager he admitted that he thought that all is done, but did not check it personally to make sure , so the price again went down but some repairs were non done….I am very disappointed as there was more than enough time to do it all, end of story.

Our next stop was to Ron & Libby , they invited us to stay on their property till we get settled to hit the road, they helped us find a place to service the truck and get groceries, it was a great experience meeting with them and although we never meet before we felt like at home, thank you Ron and Libby our excellent hosts.

Last year we stayed in Crooked River C.G just before storing the rig where we meet Renne the owner, eventually it worked out and she came to Israel with a Church group and stayed with us for a few days after the tour was completed, so now we made it back to visit her .

2017 RV summer plan

This is our 16 Rv summer trip and till now it has been a dream, each time we discover new destinations,hiking ,visiting waterfalls, natural hot springs,listening to music and meeting people. The plan is flexable and we do not book ahead ,maybe except for long weekends or holidays where there is a chance to find full C.G. Please fell free to add suggestions along the route that I missed. Many Happy Trailes,life is good and too short so enjoy every minute. See ya down the road.

Visiting relitives in Livermore,SF,Monterey and Rosveville

We have quite a few relatives in U.S.A that we never had a chance to meet but since we started RVing in 2002 we made it a point to get to know and meet them all.

Shula’s cousin’s live in L.A and we had a great time with them at the end of last year trip and the beginning of this one.

 

It was overwhelming to meet the whole family , they even came to visit us while we were camping in Pinnacle N.P CA .

Leaving L.A we headed towards Monterey where my Ant lives in a senior living compound, she is very active volunteers in the famous Sea Aquarium, she swims and does day walks and she is in a great shape .

 

It is always a great pleasure to meet Lucy my mom’s sister ,she is so much fun.

A little further North in Millbrae near San Francisco we meet after many years with Jess (Lucy's daughter) and her lovely family.

  

They were perfect hosts, we visited Down Town SF,the Golden Gate Bridge area, hiked to a reservoir in Millbrae and had family dinner at their house.

In Livermore we visited my Cousin Markus and his wife Claire, went for wine tasting and dinner in this beautiful small town.

 

As we thought that we ran out of relatives we dropped by to visit Jim & Silvia in Roseville near Sacramento, a remote cousins but dear ones.

That completes this year our family visites…..it sure is good that we come over to US other wise there was no chance we would meet them and family is family after all.

On the next day we explored the Old Town of Sacramento ,scrolled the place and enjoyed atmosphere.

Tomorrow we are off to Lasen Volcanic N.P for few hiking days…..no more city camping.

2014 RV trip-begining

We flew 12 hours on a direct flight to Toronto where we spent one week with our son,his wife and their beautiful 5 months old girl.

The week past so fast it almost did not feel the time passing,during this week we helped put a small flower & vegetable garden in their yard, but mostly spend time with them including a visit to the aquarium.

              

It was a fantastic week , we enjoyed every minute and will be seeing them again at the end of the trip before flying back home.

We flew out from Toronto to St.Louis where we were meet by our friends Rick & Pat that made our landing a soft one,they picked us up at the airport to the C.G , the rig was already there after Rick has serviced the truck and trailer,it was a huge help and there are no words to describe our thanks to this great couple.

  

On the next 2 days we shopped to fill the trailer with groceries and took a day trip to St.Louis to visit the famous Arch,the botanic gardens and drove through the  “HILL” and the “LOOP”

                          

We are leaving St.Louis but will meet Rick and Pat again as we travel through Missouri to share some more great times.

Starting our 13th RV summer trip

I know that for you all to start your RV season or continue your full time RV trip is no big deal,you have your Rig next to your place,you can visit it whenever you like,add or remove things from it and in no time jump in to start RVing,

But for ones that live across the ocean it is a total different story, we store the rig at the end of each trip always in a different location,get it ready for winter storage,fly home for the winter and pick it up on the next Spring to discover new to us destinations.

So here we are 2 days before flying out to pick our rig and start our 13th RV summer trip that usually starts at the beginning of June and ends at the end of October,the trips are what we call “deep” and thorough , we “live” the place vs visit like tourists, this gives us the chance to meet people,hike,attend events and so on, so we explore 2-3 States in 5 months and it works fine till now.

We are very exited getting ready to start but a little sad to say good bye to our family that stays back home,we do take with us for a month every grand kid that reaches 12 year (Girl-Batmizva),13 years (Boys-Barmizva) that want to come….till now 2 grandkids were with us a month each when reached the age.

We are also looking forward to meet some of our “old” friends and of course ones we will meet for the first time, I want to thank those who responded to my posts on the RV forum and added some advice what Must be seen on the route and those who helped me with the winter storage, there is nothing like good friends.

Here is the PLAN,we know where and when we start, we know where we end the trip but all the rest is flexible.

Most of the stops are located next to nature attractions such as :Waterfalls,Hikes, Vistas,Special events and history places.

2014 RV summer plan+ need help to find winter storage near Houston TX

 

Dear friends,

As you all know we do  RV trips every summer since 2002, each trip to a new destination and one of our great pleasures is to meet friends  along the way, no matter how long we spent together we feel blessed spending time with fellow RVers.

This year we had a new addition to our family, Ellie was born in Toronto to our youngest son & his wife, she is 2 months old and we still did not see her except on Skype but will be seeing  them in April when they come to visit during the Passover  (Easter) holidays

We also are going through a rough divorce of our eldest daughter that has 3 kids, trying to help her in any way we can.

All this delays our departure from home to N.America , we will start our RV trip till August  instead of June 2014.

Our original plan was to pick our rig in June from Rick & Patt that live next to St. Louis and were very kind to store our rig during the winter, visit Missouri-Arkansas and end the trip in Colorado Springs, but due to the delay we will change the route (because of the weather) and end the trip next to Dallas in November, visiting our Colorado friends in the next summer.

 

The stops you see on our route are picked as  central location where we leave the 5W and do day trips with our TV to hikes,waterfalls,music events and places of interest, we stay as long as we like before moving to our next stop,no reservations are made what keeps us flexible.

I need your help locating a storage from November 2014 till June 2015 near Houston so we can use the international A/P to fly out/in.

Ontario with our 13 years old grandson

We are continuing our tradition  taking one grandkid as a Barmiva/Batmizva present   (girl 12 and boy 13)for  a one month RV trip,this year Paz (13) joins us after his sister did 3 years ago.

Since we started this arrangement the grandkids are waiting their turn and counting the time that  passes “very slowly “ as they say.

I planned  the first month in Ontario,taking into consideration the grandkids interests such as Wonderland Toronto,CN Tower,Niagara area,P.Parks along Erie Lake,Marine World and days hikes.

Paz has finished his school year on 20 July and we were on the plane to Toronto 3 days later  and stayed with our youngest son  4 days touring in Toronto  before we picked the rig from the storage place.

We managed to service the truck,buy groceries and arrange the trailer  in  2 full  hard days and pulled the 5W  to Hamilton area where we “camped” in a friends driveway for 3 days to tour the area attractions .

                                                                                                                                        

During the last days  we hiked 5 waterfalls,visited the “big boats” that docked in Hamilton’s marina and later attended a Rib Fest till 7PM-wow great days…. I will let the pictures “talk”

One thing is for sure being one on one with only one grandkid is a very good/interesting experience and we are happy that they want to join us and that are able to do it.
