Chinook Bend River Resort was our "home" for the next 3 days.

The resort is located just 10 miles out of the city and next to a river, the sites are spacious ,on the grass and have full hookups including ctv.

Wifi reception only near the office building which is quite away from the c.g

after getting settled we immediately took off to the information office down town and we are sure happy we did this.

The lady was very nice and informative, we learned that there is a kite festival on the weekend on beach and free music in the evening, so we walked the downtown and enjoyed great jazz music the same evening.

On the following day (Saturday) we hit the beautiful Lincoln City Beach to watch the Kite Festival.

This was real fun ,some team work by four operators gave an outstanding coordinate show each one with one kite creating a musical kite dance, we just loved it.clip_image002clip_image004

Afternoon we drove North along the coast towards Pacific City and stopped at almost every place possible with a great view including walking the beach to watch sea lions and the extra beautiful sunsets.

On the next day we headed South towards Newport and South Beach, it was another great scenic drive, the beaches, lighthouses, bridges ,marinas and the small towns are like taken from a book, I could ride this road again and again and not get bored.

It was a bit fogy but it sometimes just added to the atmosphere.

At the Yaquina Head natural area and near the lighthouse we were very lucky to spot two Bald Eagles from a distance but with my camera lance I was able to get these two beauties.

The River Park Carusel.

We were looking for health food but the GPS took us to an organic farm instead ,anyhow I was more impressed by the flowers outside the farm so I let Shula do the shopping while I hung around the flowers.

In the following day we took of towards Historic Aurora.

One of the more successful American utopian communal societies in the nineteenth century was founded on the Pudding River in Marion County in 1856. Named for a daughter of the leader of the Christian communal group, the Aurora Colony (or Aurora Mills, as it was also known) grew to a population of more than 600 individuals who followed the basic Christian beliefs of Wilhelm Keil (1812-1877). The Aurora Colony became known for its orchards, food, music, textiles, furniture, and other crafts as well as its communal lifestyle and German traditions.

We strolled through the Historic section of the town for more than 4 hours visiting antique shops and beautiful restored houses.

The antique shops are loaded with stuff and it can take days to explore even one shop, but I was able to spot a medal about Masada and on it was written in English and in Hebrew, what a surprise.

The Story of Massada

All this activity got us hungry and thirsty, the answer was a small lovely place that served light meals, cakes and ice-cream and all this in an so called "old atmosphere"

It sure was a “hard working day”…but we survived it and will be looking to have some more down the road.
