Eagle River WI

The car plates in Minnesota reads “10000 Lakes State”…….what should be  written on Wisconsin car plates? 20000?,I mean State is loaded with lakes ,some are connected and allow boats to go from one lake to another,very impressive – I am jealous.

We settled down in a beautiful C.G just 3 miles out of town,full hookups,WiFI,pond with water games ,large sites and clean bathrooms (20$ Passport America holders).

On this stop we took it easy and “played” like tourists,we had Ice cream Soda in the local old store,went to see a movie “The Millers” (hilarious),visited a huge flea market and when to a car race.

Great two relaxing days where we  tried to be a part of the local events before we hit the North and hike to some waterfalls that we miss so much.

Marinette County Parks,Gathering & Water Ski

 

It all started as a normal nice days and turned to be an unbelievable fantastic day and some of the things were not even planed-don’t you love it when the cards just fall into place at the right time…

We camped at the Wabeno Casino RV C.G with 30&50 Amps electrical hookups ,water and a dump station-the 3 first nights for free (can’t beat that),on top of this surprise there was a Pow Wow event in the premises .

As the weather was just perfect we decided to take a day trip in the area starting at the beautiful county parks Goodman & McClintock both with waterfalls and nice short trails.

  

Wisconsin is loaded with County groomed Parks and many are connected by ATV good gravel routes ,we drove some of them to cut distance and except getting the truck covered with dust it was fine.

After hiking and a picnic we headed South towards Veteran’s Falls and suddenly my wife saw some white tents on a large property besides the road,so I made an U turn and we drove into a family Gathering “As we lived years before” (another surprise),I do not know who was more happy they or us but any how we did friends in no time and we were welcomed to share a beer and shoot black powder .

 

It was nice that we almost stayed the night,but found ourselves exchanging e-mails and making new friends.

Our next stop was Veteran’s Memorial County Park ,getting to the falls we had to take many wooden & stone steps but it sure was worth it…

Now here comes another surprise- as we climb back towards the parking area we meet a guy in a wheel chair that of course could not  take the path to see the falls , he asked us if they were nice and if we want to see more falls,we told him that we are on the way to Crivitz to see a water ski show on the lake that is 20 miles East and we do not have the time to visit more falls,so he says why go there when there is the best water ski show just around the corner in High Falls and as you have time now till the show starts go to Rene’s restaurant at the lake and enjoy some great food….

So we saved 20 miles one way , had a good meal and made it on time for the last Water Ski Show this season.

What more one can ask????

Storm

I am sure there are people that are used to see a storm coming ,for me it was the first time and I did not know if to take cover or take pictures .so posting them here you can understand that I decided to be “brave”…it all happened very fast , the clouds covered the sky in no time and it became dark .

And if I am at thing I have never seen –here is another one –Goats on a roof covered with grass in Sisters Bay Door County,at the beginning I thought it is a fake but watching it I realized that he is a substitute to a lawn mower….

Door County Wisconsin

Door County has it all,this “finger” is drawn into the Michigan Lake creating on the West the Green Bay ,it has number of beautiful small towns along the long coast leaving agriculture land in the center,many marinas ,wineries,sandy beaches and great S.P with scenic hikes .

During the 4 days we managed to hike,go to 2 concerts,eat the local Fish Boil and enjoy the atmosphere this place brings as you “take it easy” in this fantastic county.

In the winter the county  gets almost “empty” but in the summer it is a huge play ground for the whole family but even though we did not feel “crowded”,if the weather would hold like in the summer it sure would be a paradise.

We saw some huge house with lake view and a yacht “parked” on the dock stretched into the lake from their property….WooooW ,isn’t there a law against these kind of things…but jokes aside we visited the County all the way and forgot all the worlds troubles.
