Silver Falls S.P Oregon

This State Park is a waterfall lover's dream, in a 7 mile easy hike you can see 10 waterfalls from the trail, some can be accessed from behind and all this in a clear green setting, only colored birds ,deer and other small animals are missing to make it just perfect.

The entrance is 5$ per vehicle to the park that also has picnic area, food and very good signs that make sure you know where you are at all time.

If one does not want to make the 7 miles hike but wants to see all the 10 waterfalls , it can be easily done by using a car on the main road and taking short hikes from different trail heads.

Here are some selected picture that describe much better than any words, as an old wise Chinese said" One picture is more than a 1000 words"

I am not sure that this small guy enjoyed the falls from this level...

P1020423

Close to the end of the trail we meet a great couple and got some drinks just to celebrate and enjoy, who knows we might meet them again.

P1020422

On the way back we stopped in Silverton , a beautiful small town with an historic district, it was after 5PM and therefore most of the shops were closed….but the murals were still there.

P1020432P1020433

We also learned that “Wonder Woman” movie is played in the town theater staring Gad Gadot and Israeli successful actress, way to go Gal.

P1020434

It was a perfect day , it sure will be hard to have better ones but we will try.

P1020400

I even have a picture in the park without a waterfall…but still beautiful and green.

Till we meet again.

Opal Trail Oregon

Lakeview C.G in Detroit Lake Oregon was our “home” for the next 3 days, I must add that the prices of the C.G on the lake are outrages and have nothing to do with what they offer , so try to keep away from this place unless you want to pay 50US$ and more.

Any how we got stuck during the weekend here and got an offer of 40US$ and stayed.

After settling down we took a short drive to see the area, it sure is beautiful.

We got back to the C.G and planned to start early in the morning towards the Opal Creek after being warned that the parking area is limited and gets full especially on weekends .

Next morning we were at the parking are at 8AM, the weather was just right hiking the Opal easy hike section of 6 Miles round trip.

By the way this popular trail that was supposed to be crowded in the week end –was not, we counted like 20 people in 4 hours….

At the end of this section we reached an old minnig town in Jawbone Flats that was reconstucted by Opal Creek Ancient Forest Center and Opal Pools.

On the way back to the parking lot we did a side trip to the Sawmill Falls .

Here is the place to mention that the Forest Service does not put signs on the main trail and you have to explore to find directions to falls or other hikes, kind of strange but a fact at least on the Opal Trail.

We were lucky to meet a ranger that directed us to the Sawmill Falls he showed us  a side path with no signs from the main Trail, could never guess it leads to the falls, wow imagine missing this….

In the area we found an old entrance to a mine that was blocked by a metal door, but no sign with an explanation.

We ended this part of the trail after 5 hours at the parking lot then drove the trail head of Henline Falls , again no sing showing to the falls only a sign saying "Entering Opal Creek Wilderness" and hiked 2 miles round trip to this beautiful falls.

It was about the time to catch some snack and 3 pools offered a picnic area and a beach

We had a great day and were ready to hit “home” at 5PM but unfortunately on HWY 22 we were witness to a head on collation accident by 2 cars , one died and 2 wounded....it took almost 5 hours till we could continue on the way, sad ending to a great day.

Must end this post with a more possitive atmosphere.

Starting our 16th Summer RV trip.

On 1st June we started our long way from home to Redmond OR where   we left the rig in October 2016.

Our first stop was to visit our son and his family in Toronto, it was a great week as always, the grandkids connected to us immidiatly after spending time with them on Skype during the winter…

Saying goodby is not easy but we will see them again in October after we store the rig before we fly home.

The flight from Toronto to Redmond OR was via Denver with a short connection and after seeing our bags arrive to the destination I can say it was a success….except the long lines in Toronto A/P even at 6:30 AM… crowded gate area with nowhere to sit and  only free drinks on a 5 hour flight with no food except a small bag of bagels, poor airlines ….once it was fun to fly, no more.

Damon our great friend came over with our truck to pick us from the Redmond airport and from there we drove to collect the 5W from Big RV Bend.

Here comes a sad story which I will write in short: we left the 5W with Big RV Bend in October 2016 with a list of repairs that they could do anytime during the winter till late May 2017.

In April 2017 just one month before we are picking the 5W I contact the service manager to make sure that all is done accordingly to the list, the answers were strange: Accordingly to my knowledge all repairs are done and you bill is higher by 30% because it took more time than the quote to do what is need to do…

After e-mails back and forth he finally it went back to the original price as quoted, mean time I sent someone to see the 5w and she found that 3 jobs were not done at all although i was billed for them.

Face to face with the service manager he admitted that he thought that all is done, but did not check it personally to make sure , so the price again went down but some repairs were non done….I am very disappointed as there was more than enough time to do it all, end of story.

Our next stop was to Ron & Libby , they invited us to stay on their property till we get settled to hit the road, they helped us find a place to service the truck and get groceries, it was a great experience meeting with them and although we never meet before we felt like at home, thank you Ron and Libby our excellent hosts.

Last year we stayed in Crooked River C.G just before storing the rig where we meet Renne the owner, eventually it worked out and she came to Israel with a Church group and stayed with us for a few days after the tour was completed, so now we made it back to visit her .

That’s it for today, will be moving tomorrow .
