16 June Crossing from Canada to USA

After a great day and a rest in Woodstock N.B we woke up to a beautiful sunny day ,a duck family was swimming in the river ,the waters were so still that a great reflection was visible from the other bank.

With some difficulties and sorrow we hooked up the trailer to the truck and headed to the US boarder.

At that morning there was very poor traffic through this particular crossing and we had to wait 10 minutes in line till the custom officer showed.

The whole process of entering the US took us about an hour, in this time our trailer was checked, forms were filled, pictures and finger prints were done and finally we were on our way to our next destination.

But before that we stopped to get supplies and stock the trailer and fridge with groceries from the local Wal-Mart,and after 3 hours and some $ less in the bank we continued South West to Medway , a small town situated in the center of Katahdin and Baxter S.P.

This will be our home base for a week or so as the trailer will sit in the C.G we will explore this fantastic natural area that is blessed with lakes, waterfalls, game and many hiking trails, this is also the last part of the famous Appalachian Trail, so we are very exited for our close future plans.

From St John to Woodstock N.B 15 June 2009

We left Toronto after spending some time with our young son and headed towards Llyod & Nancy’s place where we left of trailer last Autumn, our friends greeted us at the airport and made it easy for us to get ready for the trip to come.

Although the winter is harsh in this part of the world and many people just go South the truck and trailer did good and all we had to do is wash and clean it from the outside, service them and hit the road.

Our first stop was in Woodstock N.B close the Maine boarder in a small beautiful C.G situated where 2 rivers join-great spot as you can see.

Even though it is already mid June the weather here is very shifty, it was sunny as we pulled in the c.g but 35 minutes latter dark clouds covered the sky and heavy rain poured just as we settled in.

There is a saying in these parts “ IF YOU DO NOT LIKE THE WEATHER JUST WAITE 5 MINUTES” and surly after a while blue sky showed again.

End of the first day and ready for the second….

Our 8th RV summer trip

Dear friends,
In a few days my better half and me are starting our 8th trailer trip in North America, and this
time to North East USA.
In my previous Blog I have attached a map of the planned route but I can a sure you that this is only a plan and many changes can and will happen on the way.
I love the uncertainty, follow your nose , wind and find new adventures, meet new interesting people and ENJOY every minute.
As always I will carry my laptop and my small Canon and will be connected to the Internet wherever I find a WIFI connection (not all Camp Grounds have it yet) but I will try to upload selected pictures and post blogs as we travel.
If you wish you can pop in at any given time to see what is new.
I wish you all a great summer, I will be back home in November, till then take care and do not do anything I wouldn't.

Plan-8th RV summer trip

If you are following our blog you know by now that since 2002 we are RVing 4-5 months each summer,at the end of each trip we store the rig and spend winters with family and friends at home.
Usually I plan the next summer trip during the winter starting from the place we left the rig last year .
Each trip will be to States/Provinces that we still did not visit and the length of the entire trip including many side trip with the truck will be around 10000-12000 KM.
We love nature, hiking, culture and meeting people so we take it slowly and try to cover thoroughly the places we visit.
This year we will travel from St.John's N.B (there we left the rig after visiting Newfoundland,Nove Scotia and P.E.I)to the South Coast of Maine, then head North to Mount Kathadin area (end of the Apache trail),back to the coast and to Boston area, from there to NH and through Upstate NY in the fall to Toronto-all this in approximately 5 mounts .
I will be adding blogs and pictures as we travel, so feel free to "join" us ,leave a remark if you like or not..
We love what we are doing,we live our dream and we wish you all to follow yours.

My cousin Peter visits Isarel

When my cousin Peter from LA sent an e-mail saying that he wants to come over for a visit of 5 weeks we started to make a plan what to show him except the regular tourist places that will leave him with long lasting feeling that he really "saw" the country, its people and understood they complicity of the region.
So we made a list of places to see like Jerusalem,Dead Sea,Masada,Old Jaffa,Golan Hights and so on and we added places like Markets, weeding, meeting people and experiencing family life.

Here are some selected pictures from our travels in different places around Israel and it seems that 5 weeks gave a first time visitor an overview of the country and through the media eyes that are in many times giving a faults picture.
8 miles from the Mediterranean to the West Bank???-Yes-Unbelievable.

Florida bigger than Israel 8 times???Correct...hard to believe.
Here are some pictures from the visit,we hope that the colors, smells and the country spirit will stay with him londg after he leaves.

Day trip to Ramat Menashe

It was a beautiful winter day with 20 degrees Celsius and certainly not one to stay indoors.
It looks like the weather not only confuse People thinking that it is already Spring but it also confused the nature including flowers.
So we took of to Ramat Menashe park
http://www.israelinphotos.com/tour-ramat-menashe.htm in the Northern part of the country to see the flowers bloom.
We concentrated our trip to a place in the park called Cyclamen Hill, and as you can see the pictures it was a very pleasant sight.

No day trip will be completed with out having something to eat, so we stoped to grab a hot, tasty, fresh pita just of the oven.
The pita can be filled with goat cheese and herbs what makes it DELICIOUS.

Cyclamen are a genus of plants containing 20 species, which are part of the family of Primulaceae, the Primrose family. In the wild, their distribution is centred on the mediterranean, being natives of parts of Europe, western Asia and parts of North Africa. They are tuberous plants and have no obvious affinity with Primroses, although they do resemble the North American Dodecatheon in having reflexed petals.
Their habitats range from Fagus (Beech) woodland, through scrub and rocky areas, to alpine meadows where they flower in snow meltwater.
The genus is notable for the fact that although it is small, there are species which flower in every month of the year.

In cultivation, there are some species which are definitely hardy, some which are borderline, and a few species which will not tolerate any frost.
The genus also provides florists plants in the form of cultivars based on Cyclamen persicum. These are generally winter and spring flowering plants which are available in a wide range of colours.

Appolonia-Israel

Winter in Israel is very mild and one should take the opportunity to do things outdoors.
This Saturday we took a short drive to Appolonia , and Old Port named after Appolo the Greek Sun God.
In short this place was concord by Salah Adin in 1189 from the Roman empire and in 1911 Richard Lion Heart fought and concurred it during the Crusade war.
In 1256 the beautiful place was concurred and Destroyed by a Mamlucian Sultan and all we can see now are the remains.
