The Sierra Nevada mountains produce an outstanding scenery wherever direction you look or any road you take.
Today we chose to drive towards Sonora Pass elevation 9600’ on Hwy 108 and what a drive this was…
The road is curvy and steep ,in some places the sign says : 26%….never saw this during all our travels, so better to leave the trailer in the valley below..
Every curve reviled great views and waterfalls that could be seen only from far and unfortunately no trails led to them so we could only enjoy them from a distance using our cameras to “bring” them closer.
On the way back we stopped at a ranch and tried to convince the operator to rent us horses and get closer to the falls ,but he was to busy to do it on the spot and ask us to make future reservations which we might.
From the top X signs were drawn by an aircraft ,was he playing a game? enjoying himself or trying to bring some rain to this dry place? if some can answer this it would be great.
At the pass we had a picnic and instead of looking for shade we tried to sit in the sun as in this altitude it was very cool and so different from the temperature in the valley.
Driving down we could really see why it is better to do this stretch only with the truck.
Till we meet again…
