Lynden WA is located very close to the Canadian Border in the North West corner , it has a Dutch oriented town, a bakery with Dutch stuff, a huge windmill and groomed beautiful down town, the huge hanging flower arrengments are just fantastic and there is one person from the community that is incharge to water and to make sure the flowers “feel” good.
People had a tough time explaining to us where it came from except the obvious that settlers from Holland found their way to this place.
Lynden was not chosen to be our "home" for 3 days because of the Dutch flavor but because of the Birch Bay area and Mount Baker.
Birch Bay is famous to have Low / High tides , great beaches ,good restaurants and bars along the water front.
We started the day from Blain ,a border town and made our way South along the bay, it happened that we were there during Low tide what made it very interesting and different as we could walk on the bed of the bay passing boats "sitting" on the sand and watching sea gals pick on crabs that were exposed due to the low tide.
And Mount Baker could be seen almost from every angel….we will be hiking there
tomorrow.
The whole area looks and smell "vacation" , imagine opening the window and seeing the bay, marina and mount Baker from a distance....I suppose I can get used to it.
