As stated in the previous posts Mount Rainier has six entrances , some of them far from each other and would take a long ride if driving to them from one starting point.
Previously we have entered Mount Rainier area to hike from the South from the East and now from the North West corner to Carbon River and it will be our last visit to Rainier this year .
In the Carbon River Ranger Station we collected information on the different hikes and decided to hike the Green Lake Trail to two waterfalls:
Chenuis Falls , a 3.7 one way an easy leveled hike with beautiful vistas to a glacier , to reach the falls we crossed the Carbon River on a wooden log while white water from the glacier was running under it.
The hike to both falls winds through old forest ,trees covered with moss and many huge trees that fell and were left as is in the nature , many created a whole new "garden" on top of them ,some became a "home" to shelf mushrooms adding color and shape to the natural forest.
During the whole hike we meet only 3 couples and sometimes it was so quite it "heart" the ears...
To reach Ranger Falls we had to retract for about half a mile on the main trail and climb another steep mile towards the view point, here too the forest provided beautiful vegetation, moss, fallen trees where from each step different profiles could be seen and the imagination worked overtime.
We were surprised not to see any animals but had a "monster" visitor as we sat to have our picnic.
There are many trails and backcountry camp grounds in Mount Rainier area , we enjoyed every minute exploring the Mountain that could be seen from far away as we were driving back to our C.G so go and take advantage of the great outdoors in your backyards.
