We put on our city clothes and headed to Seattle for the day, wow it was beautiful, interesting and different from the days we spent in the nature.
People are pushy, traffic is crazy and parking is very costly, never saw so many homeless ,but we are happy we did visit this magnificent City.
Our first task was to find a parking spot close to downtown for the truck, I did some research on the web a night before and made a list of places that charge 3$ an hour and do not limit the time for 4 hours.
We ended parking in the garage just under the Pike Market with a hight limit of 6’8” (that was close…) and even then I had a tough time getting the truck into a parking spot as the spots are very close to each other but we made not before the back of my shirt got wet from the whole city traffic and parking thing.
Till 3PM we strolled through this hug unbelievable colorful market, it looks like a city by itself, alleys, corridors, floors and lines to everything: to the toilet , to get coffee, to the fish stand and so on , but we took it cool and easy .
Shula did some shopping for the grandkids and at noon we tried the imposable-to find somewhere to sit and eat, it looked like everyone wanted to eat at the same time...Shula wanted smoked Salmon and I wanted Smoked Ribs , so we maneuvered between these two places and even got a small place to sit and eat...wow , task number two -CHECK , the first TASK was PARKING.
The Market is not only about food , flowers, toys, clothing , old records, old adds ,you name it you got it, and all this with thousands of people all over the place, people don't work? it is Thursday and when I last checked the weekend starts on Saturday or Friday afternoon....
The second part of the day was more relaxing , we took a stroll the promenade and the piers along the seaside, got tickets for a harbor cruise , the weather was perfect and we could finally and easily find a chair on the boat to starch our legs after walking in the market for hours, I can hike up the hill for miles and will not be tired as this walk in the market...
At 4PM we headed to Pier 56 for the boat Cruise, here again we were in line while most of the people kept it ,some skipped the line as if they will get maybe a better seat...any how the cruise was nice , we could see the city from the sea side and bring a drink from the wet bar below to the deck, there was female employee that explained what we are seeing, I did not hear a word she said and wished they would put music instead.
On the way to the Garage to pick the truck and before I was separated from 26$ for parking we ended the day zipping some great beer, what a day ,we sure will sleep well tonight dreaming about us being at the top of a line..
