Crystal Lake area WI

Map picture

The C.G on Crystal Lake is on half an island surrounded by the lake from 3 directions and used mostly by Seasonal campers many of them with a private beach and a dock,it is beautifully located between the Dells and Madison with huge agriculture lands all around ,wineries, parks ,Wisconsin Lake and river.

The C.G is an ideal place for families, that can use the beach or the lake to canoe or swim, there are only 10 RV spots for walk inns with water  and electrical hookups and we were the only ones there.

The main “attraction” at this time of the year is the DINNER/BAR  with  balcony facing the lake ,on kids time they serve  pizza and pops and later while the TV is on (usually football) they serve fish fry or burgers and draft beer and the place gets alive during the weekends.

We decided to stay for 3 nights and explore the area before getting closer to Madison.

The first day was sunny but  in the shade it was really cold, supper weather for a good hike,so we climbed a 1 mile steep trail to the top of Gibraltar Rock Park ,the vistas ,rocks and the fantastic shaped trees were  a great reword to the strenuous hike uphill.

A good bottle of wine from the local winery together with our picnic lunch was just perfect after dragging our feet up the hill,so we tasted some samples , picked a great dry red wine and sat in the winery picnic area enjoying the sun, friends ,wine and the food that our beautiful wife's prepared (They might read this post so I have to be  honest) .

On the way back  “home” we stopped to get some supplies of vegetables at a local farm that got ready for Halloween…it was good to  smell of the fresh tomatoes ,sure different from the ones in the big stores.

It looks like we  suddenly stepped into   Autumn from one day to another BUT it is still great time to be outdoors and I surely do not want to miss it.

Thanks for visiting.

Nothing like a home grown tomato. Having the campground to yourselves is another plus in my book. Love the pictures.
