Great Basin N.P NV-Day 2 Alpine Lake Hike

Roddy and Ruth ,old friends of ours arrived from Phoenix with their 5W  to join us and travel with us for a while.Last we saw them was during 2014 summer when they came from home to join us in Wisconsin ,so we had a lot of catching up to do .

Our first day together was in Great Basin N.P hiking the Alpine Lake Trail ,and easy 2.6 Miles gaining only 460’ ,through forest and meadows with 3 high altitude lakes on the way.

Along the trail we had seen some wild turkeys that were not bothered what so ever from our presents as they continued doing what they usually do –stay together and eat.

The legend says that if you huge these big old trees it will add to your life many years…so we decided that if it will not help it sure will not hurt, and after hugging the tree made a promise to meet here in 10 years from now..so the girls went for it.

At the end of the hike we found a picnic table and had our lunch together, as we were close to the end of the meal it started to rain ,at the beginning slowly with big drops but in one second it was pouring like from a bucket, so we dropped everything in the truck and drove to Baker for an Ice cream to compensate ourselves for not ending our picnic, but guess what –the only ice cream place in the town was closed…so we had to hold it till we arrived to our C.G to have finally our desert.

Dinner was served in our trailer followed by  a game of Mexican Train  where we lost to our guests (isn’t this polite??…)

We are happy to meet Roddy & Ruth and share our travels with them, looking forward for new adventures as we go along.

So fun that they could meet up with you and share good times. And what's a little rain amongst friends.
